The model type will be stamped on the M plate ( see M & VIN Plate ).

Model Descriptions.
Panel Van = A commercial vehicle with an empty load area.
Pick-Up = A commercial vehicle with a flatbed load area & hinged flaps to the back & side..
Crew Cab = As Pick-Up, but has a elongated cab area with a side door for passengers.
Kombi = Basically a Panel with windows, supplied empty for camping conversions (eg:Westy)
Microbus = A standard passenger vehicle supplied either as a 7, 8 or 9 seater.
Deluxe = A vehicle with extra trim, (eg : extra windows, beltline trim etc).
Samba = A Microbus Deluxe, the top of the range passenger carrier (highest trim level).

4 Window = Pre 1951 models (21), Rear hatch is solid.
5 Window = Panel (21) & Pick-Up (26).
7 Window = Crew Cab aka Double Cab (26).
10 Window = Ambulance (27), Rear hatch is solid.
11 Window = Standard Microbus (22) or (28) & Kombi (23).
13 Window = Deluxe Bus (Not Microbus Deluxe/Samba) (24).
15 Window = Pre 1964 Microbus Deluxe without the Samba roof (24).
19 Window = Standard Microbus (22),(28) or Kombi (23) with a Samba (24) roof.
21 Window = 1964 Onwards Microbus Deluxe/Samba (24).
23 Window = Pre 1964 Microbus Deluxe/Samba (24).

Barn Door Models.
Transporters Pre March 1955 are sometimes referred to as Barn Doors.

Rear bumpers were missing from buses before 1953.
