Vehicles onwards of 1963 carried a extra digit on the M plate next to the model type.
This digit indicated the type of paint finish applied to the vehicle.
eg : 2241 = a microbus 9 seater (224) supplied in primer (1).
Finish Codes.
1 = Vehicle supplied in primer.
2 = Vehicle with a nitro-lacquer finish.
3 = Vehicle with a synthetic resin finish.
