For original specification tyres, the VW bus had no aspect ratio. (see 70 below).

 

Tyre Sidewall Markings.

On the sidewall of a tyre there are various codes and markings.

The key below helps simplify the code system & helps understand the information on your tyre.

Tyre sizes are made of a number of different numbers & letters.

( Example : 185 / 70 R 15 82 T )

 

185  ~   Tyre Section Width in millimetres (mm)

70    ~   Aspect Ratio in % ( height of sidewall divided by width )

R     ~   Tyre Construction ( Radial in this case )

15    ~   Rim Diameter in inches

82    ~   Load Index

T     ~   Speed Rating

 

Tyre Pressure.                    Front.                Rear.

3/4 Payload                          28 psi                 33 psi
